Contemporary Dance Performance | 2015Co-Director | Cinematographer | Editor | Sand-raker
This was a collaboration with Holly Taylor exploring the ephemerality of dance improvisation by momentarily capturing the movements as marks in sand.
I built a sandbox and rake operating on a pulley system. After a few rehearsals, Holly and I decided on a call and response structure for the piece. The improvised dance phrases became longer and more complicated over time, and the rake struggled to reset the sand after each phrase. The piece was performed in the Yale School of Art Edgewood Sculpture Building. The video feed presented here was projected live onto a wall adjacent to the sandbox during the performance.

Their Fall
Experimental Video Interpretation | 2017Director | Cinematographer | Editor
Two people fall together for 3 minutes, somehow surpassing terminal velocity. Inspired by "The Fall" by Virgilio Piñera.
Vigil
Video Installation | 2015Director | Cinematographer | Editor
A spacialized time-lapse depicting the gradual burning of a grid of candles.
Each rectangle is a rough 360 orbit of the candles, capturing them at a specific point in time. The frames are arranged in a spiral, beginning in the middle when all the candles were burning bright, going counter-clockwise, and ending on the lower left when all the candles had burned down. This video was displayed beside the structure which once supported the candle grid.
Astroid
Experimental Short | 2014Director | Cinematographer | Editor
A short film experimenting with very shallow depth of field using a macro lens.
I found an old paint cabinet that had been thrown out and wanted to look at its textures and colors. In the end I went for a sort of space-drone type aesthetic with the edit.
